How to Recycle your Apple iPod for Cash

Recycling iPods

Apple iPod Recycling

Following on from one of our last post here about Mopay’s new Apple iPod recycling service. We’ve decided to put together a post regarding recycling iPods for cash and the best sites to use. How they pay and how to get the most money when you recycle your Apple iPod this way.

Many people will have upgraded their iPods and or want to sell their old ones. See why recycling is better than selling on the high street or by online auction site and the best sites to use.

Apple have sold around 206 million iPods since its first launch around 5 years ago. They are cleverly designed to be upgradable only to a newer iPod once the battery starts loosing its power holding ability. Which is convenient for Apple, but not so much for the Environment where they can cause potentially hazardous problems.

Thankfully because of this and pressure from government and environmental organisations there are now iPod Recycling Services set up that you can use to sell and recycle your new, old, working or non-working Apple iPod’s for Cash. Not only helping yourself but the Environment as well. If you’re looking to sell, recycle, trade-in or exchange your Apple iPod for cash then you’re in the right place. Here we will list all of the Top iPod Recycling sites you can use to get cash for your Apple iPod.

Apple iPod Recycling

First up lets just mention why it’s good to recycle your iPod. For starters in the UK there is now new legislation that states it an illegal offence to dispose of electronics via your normal household waste. You have to use a recycling initiative of sort to dispose of them in an environmentally friendly way. The same applies to iPods. Which, happen to contain precious metals on the chip boards such as Gold or Silver or metal alloys that can be extracted from the iPod through a recycling process and refined to be used again. This saves mining in places to dig up more metals and materials needed to create iPods and electronics in the first place.

By recycling your iPod to an iPod recycling service you are doing your part to help the environment by lessening landfill waste from electrical items that contaminate the environment and can cause expensive problems for years to come. So never throw that old iPod away! Recycle it for Cash to a special Apple iPod recycling site!

Recycling Your Apple iPod for Cash

So you’re ready to sell and recycle your old Apple iPod to one of the many iPod recycling sites online you can use to do so with. But which one is best? Which one is right for you? And this will be the case for millions of people all over the country after Christmas time. But even though each site basically does the same thing in that they recycle your mobile they all differ in some way or another. Be it through the way they can actually pay you to how much they actually offer and their features, benefits and incentives. And it pays to know which ones are the ones that are really paying the most money for mobile phones. Comparison Review Mopay Vs Fonebank

Mopay and Fonebank Comparison

Comparison and Review of Mopay and Fonebank

Mopay & Fonebank are 2 of the UK’s leading mobile phone recycling companies you can use to sell and recycle your old mobile phones to for cash. Both of them have their own great features and benefits. The best of which we will list here so you can make your mind up which one is best for you. We have reviewed both companies in previous posts.

As you will see both offer their own incentives for using them. And both have different features and benefits. But let’s see where they really compare against each other.

First off we’ll do a check using our mobile phone recycling comparison tool to see how much they are offering for a bunch of popular mobile phones to see which one pays the most money. We’ll do a comparison for a Nokia e65. A Nokia N70 and a Samsung U900 Soul.

Recycler
Samsung SoulSamsung
Soul

Nokia e65Nokia
e65

 Nokia N70Nokia
N70
Mopay £45 cash.
£54 Vouchers.
£31.20 cash.
£37.00 Vouchers.
£45 cash.
£54 Vouchers
Fonebank £42 cash. £34.00 cash. £34.00.

This is pretty much consistent for every mobile phone you check with. What we can devise here is that Mopay are paying more for mobiles than Fonebank and Mopay even pay out in Vouchers as well for Argos, Marks & Spencers, Arcadia (Can be used in many high-street shops, such as Topman and Topshop) and We7. (Music Downloads).

Payment Methods

Compared to Fonebank who only pay by cheque, Mopay not only offer more money for your mobile but also have a LOT more payment methods such as cheque, bank transfer and offline payment (Post Office. – You will be emailed a code which you can use to collect your payment from a nearby Post Office). You also have a choice of receiving Vouchers instead of cash and you will get a little extra on top as well. I think it’s fair to say Mopay slightly outshine Fonebank here! Did I mention you can also donate a percentage of your money to charity with Mopay as well?

Website Effort
Okay I have been on both the Mopay and Fonebank website many times testing them out and here is my conclusion. At the end of the day the website shouldn’t matter as much as the service but it is part and parcel. While both have a few different features on their sites compared to the other and despite Fonebank having a “Recommend a Friend” feature where you get £3 for Recommending a Friend. And a data removal tool. Mopay have a shop area where you can earn cash every time you buy something. Not just that but you can also get Cashback through Quidco with Mopay unlike Fonebank. Also Fonebank have a blog area and if you go on it there are some ‘ahem’ unsavoury links left by commenter’s that I think Fonebank should remove but they haven’t. Both sites have lots of information on them about how they work and what they do but for ease of use and simplicity Mopay get my vote for Website Effort. An independent study by online money-making advisory service moneymagpie.com rated Mopay as the most efficient and helpful mobile phone recycling service in the UK. Mopay has won a Webuser award for its user-friendly design and fantastic features.

Community Side
Why I take the Community Side into consideration when comparing these mobile phone recycling sites against each other I’m not entirely sure. But I guess it’s somewhat important. When any website that offers a service to the public has a user support forum it shows they having nothing to worry about. Neither do but both have contact pages and work with charities and small businesses and clubs in the community to recycle old mobile phones.

Speed of Service
I’ve spoken to people who have had 1st hand experience with selling their old mobile or mobiles to Fonebank and Mopay. Because Mopay have more payment option such as the email code where you can get it, print it off and take it to the Post Office you can get your money MUCH fast than waiting for a cheque. A lot of people prefer to do this actually. They normally send it on the day they receive and check your phone. So you can send Mopay a mobile on Monday and have the money for it in your hand by Tuesday.

Most Money Offered
Mopay. Enough said. Seriously, do I really need to write an explanation now? Oh okay.. Well Mopay are offering the most money for mobiles compared to Fonebank. And quite a bit more as well when you take into consideration they give Vouchers at about an extra 15% more.

Conclusion
I’m not trying to show favouritism to any site here but it’s clear to see if you want to get the most money for your mobile you should go with Mopay. I leave it up to you to decide but I know who I would choose.

Mopay Review

Turn Your Old Mobiles into Cash with Mopay.co.uk. The award winning mobile phone recycling site.

Mopay the online mobile phone and recycling giant were recently given 5 stars in a Webuser.co.uk review. There were originally reviewed by Webuser.co.uk and given a Webuser Gold award back in October 2007.

www.Mopay.co.uk was the very first online mobile recycling website of its kind after launching in August of 2005. The original Mopay.co.uk website offered a lot of features for people wanting to sell there old or unused mobile phones online for cash. They have since recently updated their site though with even more features and extra additional payment options to get cash for your mobile phone.

It’s now even easier to sell your old mobile phone to Mopay.co.uk with their clearly outlined 6 step process. You can trade in your phone for cash which can be paid by cheque, direct into your bank account or collected from a Post Office. You can also now optionally exchange the money for shopping vouchers for music downloads from We7 and Arcadia high street stores as well as Marks & Spencer’s.

  3. Backup and remove your saved info and remove the SIM card
  4. Insert the mobile phone into an appropriate envelope with your order details
  5. Seal the envelope and post it to Mopay.co.uk with the address given
  6. Wait to receive payment within the highlighted time frame for your payment method.

Mopay.co.uk are the one of the UK’s longest running online provider to date have paid out over £3 million to our customers selling their mobile phone online. They are the only site to offer 6 payment options including Marks & Spencer vouchers and Arcadia Group Gift Cards as well as offering traditional cash payment methods.

Mopay.co.uk’s prices have been increased. You can get up to £231 for the iPhone. Mopay.co.uk also lists over 2000 mobile phones and offers some of the most competitive prices in the market. Mopay.co.uk are currently paying around 10% more for old and unused mobile phones compared to MazumaMobile and a couple of other mobile phone recycling websites.

I was quoted £37.50 for my Nokia e65 in cash or £41.25 in Argos vouchers on MazumaMobile where as Mopay.co.uk offered £32 in cash or £38 in vouchers for a working model. This would back up our Review of MazumaMobile in that they pay more for mobile phones. However this doesn’t mean that Mopay.co.uk are not as good as MazumaMobile as Mopay.co.uk also have the additional options of getting 7% more cash value when choosing the M&S vouchers. What’s more Mopay.co.uk also have a Price Promise. The promise is they will pay the working or non-working value that you see on screen when getting a valuation for it when selling it.

You can also get cashback for your mobile phone on top of the payment they give you. Mopay.co.uk have a new service coming soon that will enable you to earn cashback for every purchase made from their “shop” area which is paid into your Mopay.co.uk bank account.
