How to Recycle your Apple iPod for Cash

Recycling iPods

Apple iPod Recycling

Following on from one of our last post here about Mopay’s new Apple iPod recycling service. We’ve decided to put together a post regarding recycling iPods for cash and the best sites to use. How they pay and how to get the most money when you recycle your Apple iPod this way.

Many people will have upgraded their iPods and or want to sell their old ones. See why recycling is better than selling on the high street or by online auction site and the best sites to use.

Apple have sold around 206 million iPods since its first launch around 5 years ago. They are cleverly designed to be upgradable only to a newer iPod once the battery starts loosing its power holding ability. Which is convenient for Apple, but not so much for the Environment where they can cause potentially hazardous problems.

Thankfully because of this and pressure from government and environmental organisations there are now iPod Recycling Services set up that you can use to sell and recycle your new, old, working or non-working Apple iPod’s for Cash. Not only helping yourself but the Environment as well. If you’re looking to sell, recycle, trade-in or exchange your Apple iPod for cash then you’re in the right place. Here we will list all of the Top iPod Recycling sites you can use to get cash for your Apple iPod.

Apple iPod Recycling

First up lets just mention why it’s good to recycle your iPod. For starters in the UK there is now new legislation that states it an illegal offence to dispose of electronics via your normal household waste. You have to use a recycling initiative of sort to dispose of them in an environmentally friendly way. The same applies to iPods. Which, happen to contain precious metals on the chip boards such as Gold or Silver or metal alloys that can be extracted from the iPod through a recycling process and refined to be used again. This saves mining in places to dig up more metals and materials needed to create iPods and electronics in the first place.

By recycling your iPod to an iPod recycling service you are doing your part to help the environment by lessening landfill waste from electrical items that contaminate the environment and can cause expensive problems for years to come. So never throw that old iPod away! Recycle it for Cash to a special Apple iPod recycling site!

Including; Comparison and Review of Mopay and Fonebank. SellOldPhone Vs SellOldMobile Recycling Comparison. Envirofone Vs MazumaMobile Recycling Comparison.

Money4urMobile Vs MobilePhoneXchange Comparison

Mobile Phone Xchange

Here we will be doing a Comparison of Money 4ur Mobile & Mobile Phone Xchange. 2 Popular UK Mobile Phone Recycling companies that have made a household name for their selves. Both have their own features and benefits and offer different ways to pay you for your old mobile phones.

Mobile Phone Xchange
MobilePhoneXchange pay by either (B.A.C.S). By Cheque or Paypal. Argos or Debenhams Vouchers. MobilePhoneXchange will pay up to £150 or more for your old mobile by direct Bank transfer (BACS), Paypal, Cheque, Argos or Debenhams Vouchers.

Money 4ur Mobile

Payment Methods

Both have the direct bank transfer (BACS) option and by Cheque but MobilePhoneXchange have the Paypal option which is convenient for a lot of people and you get more money for your mobile if take the Vouchers option so again this may be more convenient for people if you don’t just want the cash instead. As a bonus you get entered into a free prize draw automatically when you sell your mobile to MobilePhoneXchange as well.

Website Effort

I have no problem with either site at all although the Money4urMobile site looks a little more sleek but you can navigate around both sites easily enough to sell your mobile which is the whole purpose. I like the interesting stats on the MPX website on how many mobiles they’ve recycled and their FAQ page etc, but they keep it simple. But I like the way the Money4urMobile site works more and that they accept iPods and Inkjet Cartridges. Plus their site appears to be more nicely laid out and had more work put into it.

Community Side

Neither sites have a blog, forum or news page that you can comment on but you can contact each company respetively through their contact pages. I don’t know the full background on either companies but there are other reviews and comments on both companies online if you search where people have experiences with them both.

Speed of Service

Where MobilePhoneXchange have Paypal as the payment option and they normally pay you the day they get and check your mobile you could say they are the fastest. Even by cheque though you should expect to wait 2-5 days until payment arrives. Both companies can pay by BACS bank transfer though and that’s normally instant with most banks.

Most Money Offered

This is the bit that matter most I guess. It’s what it comes down to ultimately most of the time when people decide to sell their mobile. That’s why I hope comparisons help. There is 2 ways to find out how much both sites are offering, by using the Mobile Phone Price Comparison Tool here and by checking manually. A quick check for a series of different makes and models of mobile phones and you will see for cash that MobilePhoneXchange offer more money.

For a Nokia N95 Money4urMobile offer £80.00 working price where as MobilePhoneXchange offer £88 and up to £102 in Vouchers (about 15% more). And this is pretty much the same for every mobile phone you compare. You can get more if you take the Vouchers from MobilePhoneXchange and they offer more money for mobile phones.

Conclusion

If I was wanting to sell my mobile to either one of these sites and were comparing them I would go with MobilePhoneXchange and probably go with the Vouchers option depending on how expensive the phone was to see what I could buy. But other wise the cash by BACS is the best option to take to have the money immediately put in your bank.

Money 4ur Mobile offers an easy way to get cash for your old phones.

Money 4ur Mobile can be found at; 31 – 37 Etna Road, Falkirk FK2 9EG. You can contact them directly on their site as they have a live help support system or you can leave a message if it is offline. I have found their live help support system to be offline on the weekends which is fair enough as we all need time off to recover. Alternatively you can contact them by telephone on 0845 466 7145 (9am – 5pm Mon – Fri).

What they say: “We offer excellent pricing along with great payment terms and dedicated freepost address – we make it easy for you to get cash for your old phone and help the environment at the same time. We work extremely hard to try and include as many models on our site as possible – if you cannot find you particular make and model please get in touch and we will be more than happy to make you an offer. Customers simply choose their handset, send it in to us and we pay them in cash.

There is lots of good reviews on the net for Money4urMobile. Most of which are by people who have 1st hand experience in selling a phone with them and give them a 5 out of 5 rating with people saying it’s a brilliant first class service that they will use again to sell mobile phones to.

How to use Money 4ur Mobile
Money4urMobile Mobile phone recycler
On going to the Money4urMobile site you will be presented with a flash header and the site is nicely laid out and looks quite nice. There is a form on the homepage that you can use to search for your make and model of phone to get started right away. You can simply enter the phones model number and it will search for it or enter it by make and model alone or find it by using a picture of your mobile phones logo.

Money 4ur Mobile say that there is a simple 3 step process to selling your mobile phone with them. Simply find your phone, register and place and order. Post the phone off to them using the freepost address they provide. Get your payment for your phone in days.

You will need to register on site and provide them with your address details obviously. They have a cart system that saves your mobile phone(s) in for when you are checking out. Once you have selected your phone and are happy to accept the price shown for it. Click to proceed and you will then need to register. You simply enter your postcode and it will provide you with a list of address to choose from. You will also need to provide them with an email address. There is a box you can tick on this page if you want to receive special offers etc from them. Just leave that unticked if you don’t.

When you click next your new account will have been created and your password will have been emailed to the email address you gave. Money4urMobile also accept old ipods for cash as well. So when you are on this page now you will have an option to choose how you want to send it/them into them. You can print off your own freepost label from the address they provide you with and use your own envelope which is the fastest way. Or you can request a freepost envelope that they will send to you to the address you provided them with.

If you scroll down you have an option of choosing how you want to be paid for your phone. You can either choose to be paid straight into your bank account (which is the fastest method) or you can choose to be paid by cheque that’s mailed to your home address. It’s worth mentioning that this page uses 128bit SSL encryption (little padlock in bottom right hand corner) so your details are safely transmitted and stored. There is also an option to enter a promotional code if you have one which entitles you to get a little more for your phone (see the terms & conditions)

Check the box to agree to the terms & conditions and then click to submit your details. At this point it’s a good idea to read the terms so that you are fully conversed in how it works. You would be wise to read these as they contain details regarding the condition of your phone/iPod and any associate returns policy that they do or don’t have as well as your contract with Money4urMobile.

Click submit and that’s it you’re done! You will be provided with an order summary reference number and an address to print off that you can send you phone into. Unless you chose to have them send you out a freepost envelope. You will also see here a details summary of the phones or iPods you are sending into them as well as a Checklist to follow.

The Checklist contains things such as ensuring you print and cut out the order summary and freepost address. Ensuring you remove and SIM cards or memory cards. Making sure your phone has a battery and is fully charged. You will also need to ensure that when you send your phone to them you get a Certificate of Posting from the Post Office. This is recommended if your phone has a high value to it. You should then use Royal Mails Special Delivery service so your phone is insured against theft or lose. You will also be told the quote given for your mobile phone/iPod is only guaranteed for 14 days so ensure you send your phone in before then.

You will then now receive another email from them which is your confirmation email which will again include the details from the order summary page such as your reference number. The freepost address to use. The items you are to send in and the Checklist again to make sure everything is right.

Send your phone into Money4urMobile and wait for payment to arrive. I do believe they will email you once they have received and checked your phone to confirm how much they are going to pay you for it. So long as your phone is in good condition you should get the price quoted.

Money 4ur Mobile also purchase old iPods for cash as well as old ink jet cartridges. They have a list of the different iPods they purchase and a list of the various cartridges they purchase as well. They give you £1 for every cartridge sent into them. If you have any old cartridges you want to sell, you can send them in along with your phone on the same order.

The Money4urMobile site does contain all the kind of pages you would expect from a mobile phone recycling site. They have an how it works page that details 6 steps to selling your old mobile phones, iPods or ink cartridges. They also have a Testimonial page where there are short testimonials of people that have used the Money4urMobile site to sell their own phones.

They have a FAQ’s page that should answer some of the most asked questions such as how you will get paid, when you get paid and any other popular and relevant quest
ions that are often asked when selling your mobile phone online.

Money 4ur Mobile have a TV advert that you can watch as well if you haven’t seen it on TV before. It’s just a short promotional clip that explains how you can sell your mobile phone to them.
