Comparison Review Mopay Vs Fonebank

Mopay and Fonebank Comparison

Comparison and Review of Mopay and Fonebank

Mopay & Fonebank are 2 of the UK’s leading mobile phone recycling companies you can use to sell and recycle your old mobile phones to for cash. Both of them have their own great features and benefits. The best of which we will list here so you can make your mind up which one is best for you. We have reviewed both companies in previous posts.

As you will see both offer their own incentives for using them. And both have different features and benefits. But let’s see where they really compare against each other.

First off we’ll do a check using our mobile phone recycling comparison tool to see how much they are offering for a bunch of popular mobile phones to see which one pays the most money. We’ll do a comparison for a Nokia e65. A Nokia N70 and a Samsung U900 Soul.

Recycler
Samsung SoulSamsung
Soul

Nokia e65Nokia
e65

 Nokia N70Nokia
N70
Mopay £45 cash.
£54 Vouchers.
£31.20 cash.
£37.00 Vouchers.
£45 cash.
£54 Vouchers
Fonebank £42 cash. £34.00 cash. £34.00.

This is pretty much consistent for every mobile phone you check with. What we can devise here is that Mopay are paying more for mobiles than Fonebank and Mopay even pay out in Vouchers as well for Argos, Marks & Spencers, Arcadia (Can be used in many high-street shops, such as Topman and Topshop) and We7. (Music Downloads).

Payment Methods

Compared to Fonebank who only pay by cheque, Mopay not only offer more money for your mobile but also have a LOT more payment methods such as cheque, bank transfer and offline payment (Post Office. – You will be emailed a code which you can use to collect your payment from a nearby Post Office). You also have a choice of receiving Vouchers instead of cash and you will get a little extra on top as well. I think it’s fair to say Mopay slightly outshine Fonebank here! Did I mention you can also donate a percentage of your money to charity with Mopay as well?

Website Effort
Okay I have been on both the Mopay and Fonebank website many times testing them out and here is my conclusion. At the end of the day the website shouldn’t matter as much as the service but it is part and parcel. While both have a few different features on their sites compared to the other and despite Fonebank having a “Recommend a Friend” feature where you get £3 for Recommending a Friend. And a data removal tool. Mopay have a shop area where you can earn cash every time you buy something. Not just that but you can also get Cashback through Quidco with Mopay unlike Fonebank. Also Fonebank have a blog area and if you go on it there are some ‘ahem’ unsavoury links left by commenter’s that I think Fonebank should remove but they haven’t. Both sites have lots of information on them about how they work and what they do but for ease of use and simplicity Mopay get my vote for Website Effort. An independent study by online money-making advisory service moneymagpie.com rated Mopay as the most efficient and helpful mobile phone recycling service in the UK. Mopay has won a Webuser award for its user-friendly design and fantastic features.

Community Side
Why I take the Community Side into consideration when comparing these mobile phone recycling sites against each other I’m not entirely sure. But I guess it’s somewhat important. When any website that offers a service to the public has a user support forum it shows they having nothing to worry about. Neither do but both have contact pages and work with charities and small businesses and clubs in the community to recycle old mobile phones.

Speed of Service
I’ve spoken to people who have had 1st hand experience with selling their old mobile or mobiles to Fonebank and Mopay. Because Mopay have more payment option such as the email code where you can get it, print it off and take it to the Post Office you can get your money MUCH fast than waiting for a cheque. A lot of people prefer to do this actually. They normally send it on the day they receive and check your phone. So you can send Mopay a mobile on Monday and have the money for it in your hand by Tuesday.

Most Money Offered
Mopay. Enough said. Seriously, do I really need to write an explanation now? Oh okay.. Well Mopay are offering the most money for mobiles compared to Fonebank. And quite a bit more as well when you take into consideration they give Vouchers at about an extra 15% more.

Conclusion
I’m not trying to show favouritism to any site here but it’s clear to see if you want to get the most money for your mobile you should go with Mopay. I leave it up to you to decide but I know who I would choose.

There are two options for sending your mobile phone to Fonebank. A Freepost service or by special delivery at your own expense (recommended)

Free collection for 15 or more phones

If you want to sell 15 or more mobile phones. Fonebank have a special collection service. You simply ring them and they will arrange a collection date to come and get the phones. They will also pay you on that same day as well in the form of a cheque! They even allow you to drop off your mobile phones to them in person. Just go into their offices with your phones and they will value them there and then and give you a receipt to take with you. You will then duly receive your payment in the form of a cheque in approximately 1-2 working days.

Fonebank are offering me £38 for my Nokia e65. This is £6 more than Mopay are offering to pay for the same working model. However they offer £38 in vouchers as well. Where as Mazuma Mobile offer £41.25 in vouchers for the same phone.

Unlike their competitors Fonebank have a fast 2 day payment service. This means if you send your mobile phone in on a Monday you can expect to receive your cheque by the following Wednesday.

Recommend a Friend!

Like yourself you probably have a few friends that also have a few old or unused mobile phones lying around. It’s worth telling them about Fonebank and that they can get cash for their mobile phones. Once you have completed your first order you will be given a special code to give out to each of your friends. For each friend that uses the code to sign up to Fonebank and send in their phone you will get a cheque for £3 pound.

I have searched all over the internet for Fonebank reviews and can’t find anything bad being said about them only praise for how fast they have sent out payment. Also comparing mobile phones on there website with other mobile phone recycling websites shows that they are paying the most for old or unused mobile phones.

Whether you are an individual, represent a company, organisation or charity Fonebank can help you raise extra revenue. Fonebank is only currently available to people in the U.K but they are looking to expand to other countries soon as well.
