The Fonehub Review

Hello reader or seller. As you may know we like to bring you information on all of the current UK based mobile phone recycling sites/companies/services that you can use to sell your mobile phone for cash . We review these websites and cross compare them against each other so you can get the most money for your old mobile phone.

We have wrote reviews on mobile phone recycling sites here before nearly covering every website. But there are now more mobile phone recyclers you can use to sell your mobile to and Fonehub is one such site that are fairly new to the game.

Fonehub promise to give you cash for your mobile in 3 simple steps.

  1. Fill in the registration form.
  2. Post your mobile phone into Fonehub.
  3. Get money within 48 hours.

Currently Fonehub are only paying by Cheque which is sent to your address but will soon be able to pay people by Paypal and e-Vouchers for your favourite high street stores like Debenhams, Argos etc.

However Fonehub are offering to pay extra cash for mobile phones if you have the original hands free kit or bluetooth headset or travel charger which you’re no longer using, send it to Fonehub and they will pay you extra cash for it.

Fonehub will buy any mobile phone as long as it’s working. And also recycle any mobile phone even if it’s not working to help the environment. Basically all you need do is select your model. Review your order. Fill in your details. Then just confirm your order and await payment after sending in your old mobile to Fonehub.

Very High Prices Paid!

I just checked using the price comparison tool in our sidebar and on the Fonehub site and compared prices for a Apple iPhone 3G 16GB model. Here is the outcome for that.

Apple iPhone 3GS 16GB Price Comparison
Fonehub – £250.00
Money 4 Ur Mobile – £202.50
mopay.co.uk – £185.00
Mobile Phone Xchange – £184.00
Royal Mail Simply Drop – £183.50
envirofone.com – £183.06
Sell Old Phone – £160.00

Nokia E65 Comparison
Fonehub – £33.00
Sell Old Phone – £34.00
Fone Bank – £30.00
envirofone.com – £29.02
mopay.co.uk – £29.00
Royal Mail Simply Drop – £28.62
Mobile Phone Xchange – £24.00
Money 4 Ur Mobile – £24.00

Amazing differences! And this kept happening for many mobile phones that I tried using the Fonehub price checker on the Fonehub website.

Free Courier Service
Got 15 or more mobile phones you want to sell and recycle? Fonehub have a free courier service where they will come and collect the mobile phones from you.

What they say “FoneHub is an environmental friendly and socially responsible company collecting used phones in order to re-use or recycle them. We pay the best prices in the market and have fast 48 hour payment. And we buy brand new mobile phones and iPods too.

The Fonehub website appears to have been fully completed before being officially launched with Webgains and they have all the usual FAQ and Help pages. It’s always a good idea to read through their T’s & C’s before using. However Fonehub offer “Live Support” so you can ask them things via that before selling your mobile phone for cash to them first.Fonehub Review

Review of Royal Mails Simply Drop Service

Royal Mail Simply Dropâ„¢ Review

Review of mobile phone recycling service Simply Dropâ„¢

Well the Royal mail have officially jumped on the bandwagon and have launched their own mobile phone recycling service and website that you can use to recycle your old mobile phones and more to for cash! Here is the lowdown and review.

Simply Dropâ„¢ – The Queen’s mobile phone recycling service!

Royal Mail Simply Drop

With Simply Dropâ„¢ you can get cash for recycling Mobile Phones, Digital Cameras or Inkjet Cartridge toners and Apple iPod’s or other MP3 Players. Simply Drop have a very extensive list of iPods they list that they accept and recycle for cash from you. And the same applies for Digital Cameras from companies like Archos, Creative, Dell, iitronics, iRiver, Phillips, Samsung, Samdisk, Sony, Zen and more. And Digial Camera manufacturers from Canon to Fuji to Kodak to Nikon to Polaroid to Sony and more.

So what you say? Well this adds more sites to the list you can use to sell and recycle all these types of things with for cash. It adds another recycler that are price comparable by using our Mobile Phone Recyling Price Comparison Tool above. Make sure you use it to search for your mobile phone model first and see the prices that Simply Dropâ„¢ offer compared to the other mobile phone recycling sites. You’ll see they are offering some very high prices. This is because they are new on the block and want to stay on top of the competition. A lot of people are going with Simply Dropâ„¢ because of these prices offered and that they feel secure it being directly a Royal Mail company. And not just for mobile phones either!

What they say? “Simply Dropâ„¢ is a new scheme from Royal Mail to encourage consumers to recycle unwanted mobile phones. Simply Drop, a Royal Mail initiative in partnership with Recycle for London, allows consumers to recycle their unwanted mobiles in exchange for cash or a charity donation to one of five charities, including Barnardo’s, Royal Mail’s chosen charity. To recycle an item with the new Simply Drop scheme, consumers need to visit Simply Drop, select the make and model of their handset from a drop-down menu, and a value will be given. A prepaid, degradable bag will be then be issued to the individual for safe postage of their item. Bags can also be dropped off at any London Post Office branch. Alternatively, Londoners can look out for one of the 3.1 million Simply Drop bags being delivered to households in the capital. “

Okay so being Royal Mail this is as you’d expect then the Queen’s mobile phone recycling service. As such you can expect people to go with them. Especially when it comes to how much they are willing to pay for used or broken mobile phones and electrical products. At the end of the day that’s all it comes down to, how much money is being offered. But people do take these other things into consideration. It’s probably why, coupled with that it’s run in conjunction with “Recycle for London” that it’s doing so well so far. That and as said it being a site you can compare using our Price Comparison Tool above.

Why use Royal Mails Simply Dropâ„¢? To recycle your mobile phone or old MP3 players or Apple iPods. Digital Cameras or Ink Toners for cash. To help the Environment of London as well. It’s estimated people replace their mobile every 12 – 18 months, leaving up to 100 million going left unused in the UK. If discarded to landfill it can have detrimental effects for future generations and can leak poisonous chemicals into the earth for thousands of years.

How to use Simply Dropâ„¢? Depending on what you want to sell and recycle. Your Mobile / iPhone /BlackBerry. MP3 Player / iPod or Digital Camera. Just visit the Simply Drop site for a simple intuative design. Choose what you want to recycle from the drop down list and narrow it down to the make and model. Select working or non-working and click on ‘Preview’ for the price offered. Then simply click ‘Add now’ to add it to a basket. Click on ‘Next’ to request your free Envelope. You can add more bags if you want but simply click ‘Next’ again to fill in your Name & Address details. From here you can view the Terms & Conditions which we advise you to do. They are, as you might imagine being Royal Mail, quite well laid out and pretty much cover everything. You could get away with not reading them but it’s always best to have a quick skim at least.

When you’re done filling in your details and have ticked the T&C’s. Click ‘Next’ again to choose how you want to recieve your payment. Simply Dropâ„¢ have about 4 methods. Via a PayPal payment or receive a text message take it to the post office to collect cash. Or a Postal Order sent through the mail. Or you can donate cash to 1 of five Charities. Only all of it though and not a certain percentage of it unlike Envirofone and Mazuma Mobile allow you to do. I feel more people would donate if they could donate anything from 1-100% of the cash. Right??

Once you’ve decided and clicked ‘Next’ to continue you’ll see a page explaining when and how they’ll pay you and be given a confirmation number. Simply Dropâ„¢ will mail you a Free Post envelope. It’s important that you write that number on your Simply Dropâ„¢ envelope that contains your devices. You will will also recieve a confirmation email of this as well. From here make sure you check out their ‘How Do I Send?’ page for more important information about sending in your things to them.

So what happens now? Simply Dropâ„¢ will mail you the Free Post envelope. Simply place your gadgets inside and send them back to them through the normal post. You can insure it if you want. And in fact. It is advisable to do so and use Recorded Delivery for the more expensive things. You can track your items on the Royal Mail site using your reference number. Simply Dropâ„¢ don’t charge for postage, handling or any transaction fees, but if your device(s) are of value, they recommend you take the extra step of paying to track and insure your package using Special Delivery guaranteed service, available at all Post Offices®. However you should be alright. You are dealing with Royal Mail after all, right?

Overal the whole process to sell your mobile to Simply Dropâ„¢ is very easy. And they are being used more and more I’m noticing by people through our Price Comparison Tool above. Probably because of the prices they are paying and that, again, they are Royal Mail so people trust them.

  • Free Postage/Envelope: Yes/Yes

So how to use Phone Recycle Bank to sell and recycle your mobile phone?

In this case. I am going to recycle my broken Nokia e65 mobile phone for real with Phone Recycle Bank. They’re offering about £20 quid for it so I’m happy with that and I want to test out their services for myself anyway.

Sell, trade in or recycle your mobile phone for cash

The process is quite an easy 3 step process like they say. On going to the www.PhoneRecycleBank.com website for the first time you might find it looks fairly similar to some of the other top mobile phone recycling sites. This I believe is because they are using the same sort of template which is specifically made for these types of sites. You can see how to use the site and there is a 3 step process displayed showing what the basics are to using them. All you have to do to get started is to search for the make and model of mobile phone you are selling. You can either type the phones model into the search field shown or search by selecting a make and then search for your model in the list. However it’s probably best to just search for your model this way as an extensive list of pages will be shown and you’ll be scrolling forever.

Once you have found your phone click on it to choose whether it’s a working or non-working phone. You will be shown a price for each. Click on if it’s working or non-working. You will then need to enter the phones IMEI number. (Dial *#06# or look on the back of phone inside, under battery) The next page that then displays will show the phone you are selling and give you a choice of how you want to be paid and choice of postage method.

Currently www.PhoneRecycleBank.com only pay by Cheque by post for your mobile and offer 3 different ways to send in your mobile to them. There is the Freepost option where they will send you a Freepost envelope or you can print off a Label and post it yourself and earn yourself an additional £1.00 on top of the already offered price! And there is the Courier service that costs £8.00. (Unless you are selling 10 or more phones). Which is deducted from the price you get for your mobile. As you click on each option the price will change and be shown as “We’ll pay you £x.xx in 7 days time”.

  1. Freepost Bag – They send you the freepost envelope.
  2. Print Label (+£1) – Print out a label and post it yourself.
  3. Courier Collection (-£8) – They pick up the phone.

If you have 10 or more phones or any questions or regards about anything contact Phone Recycle Bank on 0800 0151567 to arrange a free courier or have someone walk you through it.

Going with the Print Label option, clicking continue once you are happy you’ll need to proceed with the simple on site registration process giving your name, address and telephone number and agreeing to the data protection policy and their terms & conditions. The next page will be your confirmation page displaying your Order Reference, Payment and Shipment Method and Total payment amount etc. As I chose the print label option it explains “You have selected to post the your handset back yourself. Please include your order number on the package when posting the handset back” and the address to send it to being;

Mobile Cash Monster Review New Recycler

Review of Mobile Cash Monster

Mobile Cash Monster Recycling

Mobile Cash Monster or “MCM” are a new mobile phone recycling site that are run and operated by the same people, B2B, Mobile and MP3 recycling company. Redeem PLC, that run the already successful and hugely popular mobile phone recycling site Money4urMobile.

So the site is new but the company behind it, Redeem PLC is not. Redeem is an international leader in the recovery, reuse and recycling of mobile phones, ipods, electronic devices and printer cartridges. With operations in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Turkey and Cyprus, the company trades on a global level and is regarded as a true innovator in its field being in operation for 10 years. They have lots of other sites and brands they promote. More information can be found on the Redeem PLC site.

So what’s the score with Mobile Cash Monster?

Mobile Cash Monster offers consumers up to £255 for old mobile phones, iPods and MP3 players. The web site was launched this month, after successful trial under the name of ‘Money 4 Your Mobile’, received on average 13,000 hits per month. Customers can log on to the site, input their handset details and be given an estimated value based on its condition. MCM will then send out a free-post envelope for you to send back complete with handset and receive payment either by cheque or in to a bank account within seven working days. Simple.

How to use the Mobile Cash Monster site?

The MobileCashMonster site is basically a clone of Money4urMobile which, again, are run and operated by the same people, Redeem PLC. And we have reviewed Money4urMobile before (Money 4ur Mobile review) and provided a how to guide for selling and recycling your mobile phone. And we have also compared Money 4ur Mobile against Mobile Phone Xchange. I invite you to check them out first before selling your mobile to them.

To sell and recycle your mobile phone with MobileCashMonster is easy. Like selling it with Money4urMobile all you have to do is go to the MCM site and search for your make and model of phone. When selected you will need to register and enter your name and address details. You will give your email address and a password will be emailed to you for later on. The next page that comes up will give you a few options to choose from such as if you would like to print your own freepost label and envelope (fastest way to return your items). Or if you would like to request a freepost envelope.

You will then just need to confirm your address details and choose how you want to be paid. MCM currently offer payment by Cheque or BACS bank transfer only or you can donate the money made from your mobile to charity should you wish. Unfortunately you can’t donate a certain percent and keep some you have to donate all of it. I am sure more people would choose to donate a percentage to charity if they had that option. I do believe MazumaMobile have that option on their site but this is about MCM.

Once you have confirmed and selected everything you will just need to tick the box to confirm you agree with the terms and conditions. Which you should read and which are straight forward and easy to understand. Then just click the green submit button. You can enter a “Promotional Code” if you have one. The next page is the thankyou page where you’ll find a reference number and a free-post address label for you to print off. Then that’s it. Your order is complete. You are advised to send in your phone to MCM within 14 days as they guarentee the price offered within that time limit.
