The first-quarter sales of the iPhone 4S have helped Apple improve significantly on its sales figures compared to last year. The statistics revealed that first three months sales of Apple iPhone were around £7.2 billion. Apple has managed to sell around 35 million units of mobile phones in the three-month period of January to March, especially because of its iPhone 4S sales. This spike in sales was also contributed majorly by the iPad 3 sales figures. From how things have gone in the first quarter, it is quite clear that Apple is all set to have a strong year. This also means a strong year for mobile phone recycling.
Mobile phone recycling companies have revealed that the older models of iPhones are one of the most recycled phones nowadays. Most of the iPhones turned in for recycling are the first and second iPhone editions, and quite a few iPhone 4 models (the predecessor of iPhone 4S) as well. This comes as great news for people who cannot afford a new iPhone. With the help of mobile phone recycling, these people can purchase the used iPhone 4 models, after these have passed the quality assurance procedures. Such resale of old models of iPhones gives mobile phone recycling companies an opportunity to make some money and a large number of consumers a fair chance to own a high-end mobile phone. Even though iPhone 4 is not the most recent one in the iPhone series, it is still an excellent mobile phone to have.

If there is more than one old mobile phone at your home, I can probably guess the reason why. You too seem to be from the group of individuals who does not want to lose images taken from another phone and therefore, have retained few old phones in your drawers for just that very purpose. If I guessed it right and you are one of those, you need not fear. There is a very simple solution to eliminate this problem and will even reward you for your efforts.
First things first, if a device is not available handy, you may go to your local cell phone store to help transfer all old data from your phone to the new mobile. This works if your phone is an older model, however one can even use memory cards to store the data or make use of USB cords for cell phones apart from many other options available to download pictures to the computer. Once the download is completed, all data can be dumped and erased by resetting your mobile phone. You will need to be absolutely sure that none of your personal information remains on the old mobile.
Now you are ready to turn in your old mobile phones for recycling and earning some profit. You can even earn up to £200 for an old phone, depending upon the model and its working condition. You will receive more funds for recycling if the condition is better.

Cell phone recycling and assistance to earthquake victims
What a novel idea that some of the Japanese students have come up with! They have decided to use cell phone recycling as a means to rebuild and renovate their school from the damage it suffered in last year’s earthquake. These students have been going around not only collecting old cell phones from landfills as well as recycling centres, but are also turning them into recycling places which fetch them some cash through mobile phone recycling.
Initiatives such as these make you stop and think for a while on what all one can do for his/ her country or even a charity of one’s choice. From here, one simply takes the cheque and hands it over to the person, charity or the country which one considers as most worthy or most in need. It is not difficult at all! You too can begin your own campaign similar to the one mentioned above by asking people for their old cell phones, taking them to cell phone recycling centres and passing on the received funds to any of your favourite charities.

Recycling of iPads and mobile phones gaining popularity
Consumers may now be realizing the benefits of cell phone recycling and that is why we are seeing tough competition between various recyclers at the moment. One of the important developments as far as mobile phone recycling is concerned is that many consumers are now beginning to search for those places where recycling old devices fetches them little money.
Well, who wouldn’t mind getting even a bit of extra money coming from any source? Not just that, it could also be the immense value that people have now understood about the components of these phones and how recycling cell phones helps in protecting our planet. We all must know by now that the precious metals contained in these phones can be used to make many new devices instead of allowing them to be lost or even worse, polluting our water and air. Irrespective of the reason behind the increased popularity of cell phone recycling, it is an exceptionally good thing.
Frankly, more than just mobile phones can be recycled. Other mobile devices such as old iPads too can be recycled. The recycling companies basically want to check if the recycled old devices can be resold to someone else who is happy taking a second hand product at a far more reasonable price. Factors such as preserving the precious metals and contributing to a greener planet are of course evident when we pledge to recycle our iPhones and iPads. Needless to say, any kind of electronic recycling, including of mobile phones, helps earn some extra cash.

Mobile phone recycling helps extract 1,500 kg gold
Recently, it was observed that huge amounts of silver, gold, nickel, palladium among other precious metals have been used in the electronic devices we own. Mobile phones too contain some of the precious elements on earth. Countries such as Korea and Japan are running out of these scarce materials which are required to manufacture new models of cell phones and other electronics. If extreme steps such as cell phone recycling are not taken seriously, there is no way we can get out precious metals back.
A survey was recently conducted by the government wherein around 100 million cell phones will be carrying roughly 1,500 kg gold. This also implies that if 100 million mobiles are trashed away in landfills, then 1,500 kg gold is straight away lost. Well, this loss is insignificant if compared to the ill-effects it has on our environment. The lithium batteries and other parts contained in the electronic devices, including mobile phones, are extremely harmful to our planet.
The need for gold these days in the market to make new electronic devices, coupled with the ever increasing harmful impact to the environment on throwing them into the landfills, makes it even more important for us to recycle our old mobile phones.
For this good deed, you are offered a small profit in return. In order to recoup cell phones, companies are offering a good price for those and use these phones in working condition as a way to help others in getting a handset at an affordable price.

Mobile Phone Recycling Merits
Our world witnesses close to one billion mobile phones being manufactured every year. It is sad that only 1% of those new mobile phones make it to the process of mobile phone recycling. Experts throughout the world are requesting mobile phone users to pay attention to the planet and billions of dollars that could have been saved by recycling. One manufacturer revealed that every mobile phone has close to 150 gm of silver and gold apart from other rare materials. All these materials get lost when the mobile phones are dumped in landfills. This is another major reason why experts are encouraging people to recycle their phones.
Moreover, as mobile phone recycling has an important incentive in the form of money that can be earned through it, it is a good enough motivator for people. The fact that it also helps considerably in keeping our planet pollution free, may also encourage many individuals.
A recent study on recycling in Europe confirmed that around 160 million mobile phones are discarded here every year. This means a major loss of close to $500 million per year in the form of materials. Moreover, all this lost material could have otherwise been used in the production of new electronic devices and hence decreased their cost considerably.
There are actually many more reasons why you must opt for mobile phone recycling. It is about much more than just the money you can earn from it. It is about saving the earth and recycling the rare materials so that the new gadgets cost less. Last but not the least; it is about ensuring that these rare materials do not get wiped off the planet completely.

Donations for Schools
A school in the United Kingdom has decided to appeal for donations, including proceeds from mobile phone and ink cartridge recycling. In truth these donations could benefit any school. Every year, millions of new cell phones are manufactured and sold. Approximately, around 80 per cent of such devices make it to the landfills. Since the metals inside the phones are becoming scarce in certain countries like Japan, who are pioneers in the production of electronics, companies are willing to pay for recycling of mobile phones.
The proceeds received from mobile phone recycling could be given to any school, and more so if your children attend a school too. These new funds can be used by the schools for updating buildings and helping the students in a better manner by bringing in upgraded technology.
The choice about which charity to donate to, lies with the donor. There are plenty of charitable organizations to whom the funds from cell phone recycling can be directed. On many levels, cell phone recycling plays an important role. Not only are you paid money for recycling, but you also perform a good deed by making efforts in this direction. Whether you need the money to pay off for your new phone or if you are facing financial difficulties, you are still protecting the environment to a great extent.
Precious metals such as nickel, which are used in mobile phones, can be reused. Plastic too can be melted again and get used in manufacturing of new phones or other electronics. Schools are also emphasizing on the importance of recycling phones as well as other goods.

A New Type of Smart Phone Launched
Millions of residents in the UK currently own smart phones. These phones have become such necessity that people have gone to weirdest lengths to procure one, including opting for helpful programs like mobile phone recycling to earn some extra cash for their purchases. Recycling mobile phones is definitely a green option that comes with easy money as an added advantage.
A new kind of smart phone has been launched by Samsung in the United States which is actually a hybrid of a smart phone and a Tablet PC. This phone will make it easier for users to talk as well as use the device for taking down notes. The idea of launching such phone stems from the fact that a large number of people nowadays carry a secondary mobile device like a Tablet PC or an iPad to take down notes. Samsung intends to bring the best of both worlds in one single gadget.
The new smart phone named Galaxy Note features a 5.3 inch touch screen along with a stylus. The price of the phone is around $300 in the United States, and will be slightly less when it is available in the United Kingdom. As of now, the Galaxy note is available only with AT&T in the US, although UK residents can purchase other models of Samsung through local providers. Samsung revealed that the idea was to launch a flexible mobile gadget which though had the features of a Tablet PC, but was also small enough to hold up to ones ears.
Many companies have tried launching similar products in the marketplace but have not so far been able to replicate the iPad experience.

Highest recycled mobile phone: Blackberry
Blackberry phones have been recorded as the highest amongst the most traded in phones for cash.
From all the mobile phones that were sent for recycling, Blackberry was ranked as the number one. Among £2.65 million mobile phones which were recycled in the month of January, Blackberry phones accounted for the maximum number. With an average of £104 that was offered for each handset, Apple 3GS also topped the list.
Other phones turned in for recycling included HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Wildfire. Blackberry suffered an unfavourable reputation last year and this could potentially be a reason why they constituted the majority of recycled phones early this year. Looks like many contracts must have got over and consumers decided to recycle their Blackberrys and even earn some cash to use it for buying a new phone. Apple 4S too is gaining tremendous interest as a nice phone to have in the year 2012.
The study regarding cell phone recycling also showed that Blackberrys were up 28% of all the smart phone sales. The figure, though worthwhile, is still very low considering the number of Blackberrys turned in for recycling. The last month itself has seen some 40,000 mobile phone getting recycled per recycler. This figure of mobile phone recycling is astounding and what is even more surprising is that most of the phones sent in have either little or no damage, and are in a good shape. The owner just wanted to upgrade and these old phones are being resold for £150.
