Recycle your Mobile Phone

It is worthwhile to keep reminding customers how vital mobile phone recycling is. Only due to its extreme importance, we would like the readers to rethink about recycling their old mobile phones once they are done with them.

Third World Development

As statistics from the last year reveal, the use of cell phones in underdeveloped and developing countries is increasing manifold. The majority of such phones are refurbished in these countries, which implies that somebody is conscientious enough and has ensured that the old mobile phone is recycled in order for someone else to have a ‘new’ one.

It is much more than convenience as far as usage of mobiles in these countries is concerned. Most of the programmes related to healthcare outreach and operational in developing countries make use of cell phones to get their message across. Mobile phones are also used in relaying important farming information and details to local farmers. Life surely gets improved as crops and health get improved too. Now can you imagine what all an ‘old’ mobile is worth?

Environmental Responsibility

Landfills are usually the first place where old mobiles end up, once they have been thrown away. If not disposed off properly, some toxic materials which are contained in mobiles result in a negative impact on the environment. Added to that, the eco-system is poisoned once the toxins are leaked into ground water as well as soil.

Moreover, it is not only about recycling; it is about recycling responsibly. sellyourmobile.info ensures that not only is your old phone recycled ethically, but you also get the best cash deal for it.

Now Charge Your Mobile Using Your T-Shirt

Have you heard about T-shirts making use of sound to charge mobile phones? Well, some of those kinds will be undergoing a trial run at the Glastonbury music festival soon. Three prototypes of these T-shirts, which are called the Sound Charge T-shirts, will be worn by selective team members and will be tested to check which of the performing acts provide the best charge.

This activity is a part of the stage events under “Sound of 71” theme and is being organized by Orange.

How does it work? The T-shirts have been designed in such a way that they’ll have an A-4 specialised front panel which will harvest sound and convert the same into energy before using it to charge cell phones. The material of the panel is made up of a piezoelectric film that is used in hi-fi speaking systems. As the sound waves hit the material, a pressure is generated which provides the electrical charge. A battery reservoir stores the charge which is directed by interchangeable leads to different phone connectors.

Around 80dB of sound is generated each time a standard music set is played. Using this, about 6 watts of electricity can be generated using a Sound Charge T-shirt which is sufficient to keep a mobile or smartphone charged for two days.

Andrew Pearcey, heading Orange’s sponsorship, quoted that sound is an obvious medium which seems to be a perfect fit to introduce such a new development during the vibrant festival of Glastonbury.

If you are worried about the practicality of such a T-shirt, do note that all of its electrical parts can be easily removed, making it fully washable.

Surf Better than Chat: Smartphone Owners in the UK and Germanys

As per a recent report, mobile phone service firms are earning much lesser income from voice calls as compared to earlier. Despite the drastic fall in revenue from voice calls, they are not suffering, as the overall revenue of these companies has in fact increased by about 1.1%. All thanks to the increasing number of people using SmartPhones these days and preferring to surf instead of chat.

The global ratings agency Fitch has revealed that the SmartPhone users in the UK as well as in Germany are increasingly accessing Twitter and Facebook through their phone. Even though they are quite eager to post as well as micro-blog, the revenue generated from data services will not really be adequate in the long term to compensate for the loss of income through lesser voice calls. It evidently means that such companies will have to find newer ways of generating income which could possibly include reduction in call rates. Near Field Communication (NFC), wherein the big four – O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Orange, are co-operating to offer the facility of making payments using mobile services, may be a way forward. Of course, it will be a welcome move if companies provide a combination of both.

As economies are developing, data use is expected to be more, which automatically lowers the usage of voice calls. One must have also noticed that a high number of Italians and Spanish in Southern Europe have switched to less expensive mobiles from SmartPhones after losing their jobs, thereby using less data and more voice calls.

Is it the iPhone Killer?

As per the latest Boy Genius Report and the Technorati, Android is planning to come up with a SmartPhone soon which is expected to be nicknamed as “An iPhone Killer”. Though the reports are still a rumour, the mobile handset could be the new Google Nexus 4.

The handset is believed to be powered by either twenty eight nm Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which is Krait-based or a Texas Instruments (TI) OMAP 4460 chip which could be either 1.2 GHz or 1.5 GHz. It features a 1 GB RAM while the operating system is most likely the Android 4.0. The rumours also state that the Google Nexus 4 may have a 720 pixels high definition large screen, a 1080 pixels playback and video recording capability, a 5 megapixel camera at the back side, a 1 megapixel camera for video chat on the front side and even 4G LTE connectivity with all virtual buttons. There are no physical buttons on the handset.

Reports also state that the new handset will feature 3D as well as open GL tracking (meant for face recognition). Goes without saying, that since it is an Android phone, its open source OS will permit synchronisation with many other devices too.

The Nexus 4, in comparison with the upcoming Apple iPhone 5, will have an edge due to the presence of dual core processor.

The information regarding the new mobile being the Nexus 4 is not yet confirmed though, but if it does turn out to be true, then iPhone may just get its very first real competitor.

Near Field Communication and UK’s Big Four

The mobile world has got most of the big names talking and even working on schemes under Near Field Communication (NFC). Such schemes will allow users of SmartPhones to pay for services and goods by using their mobile phones. How convenient is that!!

Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and O2 are four of the largest mobile service providers who have announced that they are joining hands to form an open platform for near field communication.

What it basically implies for us as consumers is that NFC will become a common practice in the days to come. It will not only allow us to use our cell phones for payment of variety of things such as groceries and train tickets, but will also make debit cards, loyalty cards and credit cards easily accessible with just one beep. NFC enabled accounts can also be used to pay for services and goods online.

By opting in to certain schemes, the SmartPhone users will also be able to make use of the location-specific offers, which will increase further after the formation of this joint venture. How it works is that while using the mobile phone’s location tracking abilities, the restaurants and shops will provide coupons and even the savings applicable to all places in one’s local area.

Vodafone UK’s CEO, Guy Laurence made a statement about the new joint venture that while people leave their home with only their mobile, keys and wallet currently, they will soon start leaving the wallet behind once the NFC platform is completely operational by the end of this year.

Looking for the best place to sell your mobile?

There are quite a few options available in the market should you wish to discard your old mobile phone. What you choose depends on how much time you have at hand to look around to compare deals and what price expectations you have in mind for the same.

You could trade it for a new mobile, place it on an auction, sell it to some High Street shop buying mobiles or even recycle it for cash. Now which of these should you go for?

If you are considering trading in your old phone for a new one, remember that the trade-in value is hardly as good as what one gets on selling it. Additionally, one also needs to sign a contract which will cost more over time.

Talking about selling your old phone to some high street shop, the value you will get here is again lesser than other options, as I have myself enquired about various mobiles at different shops.

In case you are thinking of putting up the mobile on auction, your phone not only has to be one of the popular ones, but you will also need to wait for the right audience to first identify your auction and be available when the bidding has ended.

The last and probably the best option in terms of getting good money for your old phone is to recycle it. It is a simple and easy to understand process which can be followed without stepping out of your house.

Your answer to finding the best place for selling your mobile is right here.

How to get the best price for your mobile phone?

If you wish to find the best price for something, are you one of those who will look for the nearest and most convenient shop or will you check out several other places in order to get the best deal? Do you also spend some time on the internet for more information and to check out prices and reviews before you head out?

Well for me, I do conduct research prior to purchasing anything. I not only find out about various manufacturers, the model ratings, the prices etc, but also see which one of them is offering the best deal. The collection of entire information happens before I go out to the shops.

Smartphone Users in the UK: Most Enthusiastic

One of the mobile analytics firms, Flurry, has conducted a survey which shows that the most enthusiastic segment of smartphone users in Europe is from the UK. Backed by numbers, the survey shows 17.2 million British users having accessed an application in the last month alone. French users were 10.7 million while Germans were only 9.6 million in comparison to that.

Flurry compiled the data from over 85,000 mobile applications before arriving at this figure. A 10% growth has been noticed in the number of smartphone users across Europe and by May, the number of such users is expected to reach 46 million.

The study shows that the most popular applications are the ones based on gaming as more than 35% of all application use is dedicated to gaming. Next on the list of popularity are applications for social networking such as Facebook and Twitter which constitute 25% of apps use in smartphones. Sports and entertainment apps constitute 17% while news apps constitute 5%.

Flurry also quoted that the number of smartphone users is expected to double in the coming year and may even touch the figure of 92 million.

IAB UK, in other analyst news, has reported that smartphone is being increasingly used for shopping by many British smartphone users. This has even resulted in many favourite retailing firms incorporating mobile commerce. More than 1,100 smartphone owners were surveyed, out of which 27 per cent have already bought items using their smartphone and another 48 per cent are planning to do so within the coming year.

Mobile Phone Recycling in UK

As per the statistics on Wikipedia, there were over 76 million mobile phone users in UK at the end of 2008. The number is increasing steadily and a new mobile is being sold every minute in the UK.

Now the question that arises is – what really goes on with the mobiles once their owners are done with them? Most of the old mobiles are thrown away in rubbish dumps leaking all the toxic waste into the environment and poisoning our soil and groundwater.

Being a responsible mobile phone user, it is no one else’s but our own responsibility to dispose of our old cell phone properly after using it. sellyourmobile.info helps in efficient recycling of mobile phones and at the same time, rewards you with cash for the same.

If you choose to recycle your old phone through sellyourmobile.info, your phone will go through one of the following procedures:

Mobile Phones – The New Future

SimpleGeo’s co-founder, Matt Galligan, recently stated that whatever the future of mobile is, it will evidently be the future of everything too.
Well, Matt is not the only one who believes so. While browsing the internet today, I came across an article on SFGate in which Matt, along with many other experts was quoted in his response to questions related to the future of mobile phones. All the experts agreed with the fact that our lives will very soon revolve largely around our mobile phones.

Some of the other opinions as mentioned in the article are given below:
Dane Hesse, the CEO of Sprint, said that wireless technology has so far been the most quickly adopted technology ever and majority of the population in the world now owns cell phones. Mobile phones are not only going to become even ‘smarter’ but will also become like multi-media devices having sharper and larger screens and faster network connection speeds and internal processors.

Another fascinating thing he spoke about was the upcoming change wherein cell phones will be beyond just phones and will be more like ‘connected devices’ such as from tablet PCs to various other machines like cameras, medical monitors, vehicles and smart meters, all wirelessly-connected. It has been projected that by 2020, more than two billion of wirelessly connected devices will exist worldwide.

Opus Capital’s general partner Bob Borchers too indicated that it will basically be the creative individuals and small businesses which will drive the future of the mobile phone industry by experimenting with latest technology and producing innovative new ideas for applications.
