We have a sister company by the name of Sell Cell in the USA. Therefore, we like peeking in occasionally to find out what is it that they are discussing. Recently, it is talking and messaging while driving is what they are talking about.
Here in United Kingdom, we all are comfortably aware of the fact that talking and texting on a handset while driving can be fatal. We are also aware that doing so is illegal. The only time it is permissible to talk on a handset while driving is when you make use of a hands-free to do so. Even using a hands-free can be held against you and you can resultantly be charged and face points and/or fines if the police personnel find that you appeared distracted while using the hands-free.
However, in the USA it’s a completely different story. In several states, it is considered absolutely normal to talk on a handset while driving. While in others, no one gives you dirty looks even if you’re found texting while driving. Although this is undergoing a change with times, but in a nation where people hate the idea of a government dictating how they should and should not lead their lives, banning taking/texting while driving can never be accepted with open arms.
Regardless of all justifications, the truth is that it is very unsafe to interact with a mobile phone while operating a vehicle. Furthermore, keeping aside the legal aspects, as drivers, we must act in a responsible manner and keep our mobiles put of reach while driving. However tempting that message or call may be, we must abstain from checking it.
