Envirofone vs Mazuma Mobile Recycling Comparison

Comparison Review Between Envirofone and Mazuma Mobile

Two Giant Mobile Phone Recyclers. Both have their own features & benefits. Both have different ways they can pay you for your mobile phone. Both are the same thing. But just how same are they?

Envirofone vs Mazuma Mobile

Envirofone & Mazuma Mobile are home branded name mobile phone recyclers in the UK. Both run their own TV, online and other advertising campaigns so you probably know of them or have used them to sell a mobile phone to in the past or are thinking of using one of them to sell a mobile to.

Questions

The real questions are. Which one pays the most for mobile phones? Which one has the best and fastest service? How do they pay? Well even though we have reviewed these 2 mobile phone recyclers before let’s now compare their differences again.

Payment Methods

Envirofone have 3 different payment methods; Cheque, Paypal or Argos credit on a Reward card which gives you an additional 10% and you can donate a percentage to a Charity.
MazumaMobile have 2 different methods but also pay either in Cheque or Argos Vouchers and you get an additional 10% more on top of the cash value.

They both have the same Argos incentive but credit to Envirofone for offering Paypal as an alternative payment method which many people might probably find useful as well as the ability to pay off your Carbon offset where you can offset your mobile phone’s contributed carbon emissions by investing in projects that absorb or prevent the release of carbon dioxide equivalent to the carbon footprint of your mobile phone.

Website Effort

Both the Envirofone and MazumaMobile website are well designed as you’d expect from such large companies. They are both easy to use when wanting to sell your mobile phone and both have lots of information regarding their companies and the recycling industry. MazumaMobile provide a Mobile Phone Deletion Tool to safely erase your personal date before selling your mobile. Envirofone have more ways to interact with them through their “Green Room”. But you don’t wanna hang around. Just sell your mobile and your done. Still useful though.

Community Side

Obviously it’s good for any online company to have ways that its users can contact them. Normally a user forum shows a company has nothing to hide. Not that that’s an issue with 2 such well established mobile phone recyclers like these. Although both do make an effort to reach out to and work with the community in many ways. Envirofone have their own The Green Room page that is packed full of as they put it “A place to hang out and read up on some interesting facts as well as the odd bargain. We’ve got really cool envirofacts, blogs, reviews, green special offers and advice” For Green Issues on the Environment, News Articles, Your Views to have your say, Phone Offers to compare phone contracts, Money Saving ideas at home, Green Offers, Co2 Matters, Competitions to enter and Media Center that has a game to play and more.

So it’s fair to give Envirofone the credit this time for Community Side for creating all of that.

Speed of Service
To be honest both have pretty much the same proven track record here. If you search the net and forums you’ll find posts by people who got their money paid promptly and the amount that was given and posts by people with different stories. But overall both are real genuine companies and try to provide a decent service to people. Because of how Envirofone have Paypal as a payment method it means many people normally get paid the next day they send their mobile in and that’s what matters next to the value given.

Most Money Offered

Based on a mid range priced mobile. Nokia e65.
Envirofone. Cash: £35.02. Vouchers: £38.52.
MazumaMobile Cash: £37.50. Vouchers: £41.25.
And this is pretty much the same for most low, mid and high price ranging mobile phones. But it’s clear to see that MazumaMobile are paying the most for mobile phones between the 2 recyclers.

So there we have a way of comparing the UK’s top mobile phone recycling sites so you can make an informed decision on which one is best for you based on how you want to get paid. If you want the most money and don’t mind waiting for a cheque choose Mazuma Mobile. Otherwise if you want a Paypal payment go with Envirofone for a fast 2 day payment.

Sell & Recycle Mobile Phones With Boots for Advantage Card Points

Boots Mobile Phone Recycling

Recycle old mobile phones for Boots Advantage Card Points.

If you are an existing Boots customer and have an old mobile phone you can sell, you will love the Boots Mobile Phone Recycling initiative. You can turn old mobile phones into Boots Advantage Card Points which can be spent any Boots store you choose.

Boots Mobile Phone Recycling

What they say: “Customers simply choose their handset, send it in to us and Boots will issue them with their Advantage Card points via one of the Extra Offers Kiosks in a larger Boots store. This provides a great way for Advantage Cardholders to increase their spending power in store and be environmentally friendly at the same time – something which has proven very popular to date. And for every single handset received £1 will be given to charity (these donations are split equally between Boots chosen charities Breast Cancer Care and The Eve Appeal).”

Boots Mobile Phone Recycling Incentives

  • Recycle your mobile phone with Boots for 5000 Advantage Card Points.
  • Automatically entered into a draw to win an extra 5000 Advantage Card points.
  • Entered into a further prize draw to win a luxury weekend spa break.
  • 50 Advantage Card Points for old Mobiles that are not on the Boots Recycle site.
  • 100 Advantage Card points for each old inkjet cartridge you Recycle
  • £1 for every old mobile phone sent in donated to Charities by Gift Aid.

This is ideal for people that already have a Boots Advantage card. However you will need to already own a Boots Advantage card before you can register on the Boots Recycle site to sell your mobile phone. But you can apply for it on the registration page (Note: You are diverted to boots.com for this) or by calling the Boots Advantage Card team on on 0845 124 4545.

Boots launched their own Boots Mobile Phone Recycling website in 2008 in partnership with mobile phone recycling leaders Redeem plc, a market leader in mobile handset recycling with over ten years experience. They offer people the chance to get 5000 Advantage card points for every mobile phone sent in that can be spent in any Boots store nationwide. They have announced that they have given out just under 50 million Advantage Card Points to their customers through their successful Boots Mobile Recycling initiative.

Around 120 million Advantage Points have been awarded to Boots customers and the Boots Advantage Card was launched over 11 years ago and has just under 17 Million card holders in the UK. The Boots mobile phone recycling initiative has been very well liked by Boots customers and has raised over £60,000 pounds for charities including Breast Cancer Care and The Eve Appeal. They give out £1 with an additional 28% being generated by Gift Aid for every old mobile phone handed in as well as give people the Advantage Card Points.

  • 5000 Advantage Card Points for any mobile phone.
  • 100 Advantage Card Points for old inkjet cartridges.
  • 50 Advantage Card Points for mobiles not listed.

So the process is simple. If you already have a Boots Advantage Card you can register on site. (Note you will need to create a seperate account from boots.com if you have one) Once you are registered just enter your make and model of mobile phone in and it will tell you how many Advantage Card Points you can get for that make and model.

Here is a quick list of some of the mobile phones and the points offered for each. You can easily search on site for your specific make and model but this just shows that they offer more than the 5,000 Advantage Card Points if you have a more expensive mobile phone to recycle.

  • Apple iPhone 3G 8Gb – 12,500 Advantage Card points
  • Apple IPhone 3GS 16GB – 20,000 Advantage Card points
  • BlackBerry 9530 Storm – 8,666 Advantage Card points
  • BlackBerry Curve 8900 – 6,666 Advantage Card points
  • Nokia N95 8Gb – 10,000 Advantage Card points
  • Nokia N97 – 20,000 Advantage Card points
  • Motorola RAZR2 V8 – 2,500 Advantage Card points
  • Sony Ericsson K850i – 3,354 Advantage Card points
  • Sony Ericsson W580i – 1,666 Advantage Card points

When you think of how many points you are getting and compare that to the cash value of what you can spend them on in store it works out quite generous considering taking a cash offer with another mobile phone recycler. Especially for the moderate to heavy Boots shoppers.

How it Works

After you have read the above you should have noted the 2 important points. That you will need to have a Boots Advantage Card (Free). And you will need an old mobile phone or inkjet cartridge. Once and if you have those already to use the site itself when selling a mobile phone is very easy. The site itself has a How it Works page. But you should know what to do. You can search for your make and model of mobile phone and select it adding it to a basket. If you are happy with the Advantage Card Points offered for your mobile just checkout.

You can request to have a free post envelope sent out to you to send the phone in or you can print off a freepost address lable. Your points will be available within 30 days on your Advantage Card. To collect your points just put your Advantage Card into an Extra Offers Kiosk in one of the larger Boots stores. You can find your nearest Extra Offers Kiosk using a Store Locator on the main Boots website.

What happens to your mobile with Boots?

If your mobile phone is in good working order it will be refurbished and sold on to be reused in developing countries. Mobile phones that can’t be repaired are sent to be recycled. The precious metals inside that can be reused are extracted from the handset and any remaining materials smelted and reused. Inkjet cartridges are refilled for reuse and returned to the consumer stream as a more environmentally friendly option.

Get Paid When Selling Mobile Phones

How To Get Paid Selling Mobile Phones

When you want to sell your mobile phone online you can use a mobile phone recycler such as the many we feature and review here. It’s easy to sell a mobile phone to a recycling company, they will be willing to take the phone from you and offer you payment for it. Usually in a different number of ways as most have various payment options available to get the money for your phone.

There are a few different payment options available offered by mobile phone recycling sites depending on the site you chose to sell your mobile phone to. You may come across options you’ve never heard of before so I wanted to share these with people so you know what’s available to the fastest way to actually get cash in your hand to how to get paid when selling & recycling mobile phones online.

This also goes for any other type of recycling site online that purchase electrical items such as mobile phones, iPhones, iPods, PSP’s, Nintendo DSI’s or other handheld games consoles. And the types that purchase old music CD’s, movie DVD’s, games and games consoles.

The usual way to get paid your money when selling mobile phones online to a mobile phone recycler is by cheque. That’s pretty easy, you just have to pay it into your bank account if you have one. Chances are you will do and you would have chose that payment option when selling your phone.

The other option that mobile phone recyclers give for paying you is by direct bank transfer (BACS) payment straight into your bank account. This means you have to give your bank details in a secure process on the site when selling your phone but it’s probably the fastest way to get your money.

Online Payment Merchants

PayPal for mobile paymentsAnother payment option you may come across is Paypal. A lot of people will know what Paypal is already but it’s a secure online payment merchant. Think of it as an online bank that acts as middlemen that you can use to pay people with or receive payments from people. Most mobile phone recyclers use Paypal because they can easily send you your money into your online Paypal account which you can then transfer into your bank account if you want. While this is a convenient and apt payment method for a lot of people, if you need to get your hands on real cash for your mobile it can take at least a week.

Alertpay paymentsAnother option mobile phone recyclers are offering now is Paypal’s predecessor AlertPay. Alertpay are similar to Paypal in that they offer secure online processing of payments made to you by a mobile phone recycling company for your mobile phone or other type of gadgets. Get an AlertPay account and get paid!

The other payment options sometimes available for selling your mobile phone online is with Gift Vouchers or Gift cards. Mobile Phone Xchange for example can give you Argos vouchers for your old mobile phones instead of a cheque, bank or paypal payment. The bonus is you get around 10% more for your mobile compared to the cash value. The savvy among us will be able to turn this in cash though somehow by maybe purchasing and selling something from Argos to get cash.

Some other mobile phone recycling sites also pay out in Gift Card or Vouchers for other High Street stores such as Tesco’s. Again the savvy among us will be able to turn that additional 10% into cash. I have also from the grapevine that a few other ways to get paid for your phone are coming soon as mobile phone companies try to tap into a huge market such as mobile phone top-up credit for PAYG user.

SellOldPhone pay most for mobilesOne of the most recent forms of progress in paying people for their mobile phones is by Sell Old Phone. A leader in mobile phone recycling. They have created a first of its kind drop-in shop where you can literally walk straight in and exchange your mobile phone for cash there and then. See the Sell Old Phone site for their address but they are based in Tyne & Wear. SellOldPhone are paying the most money for used mobile phones at the minute as well. So if you want to get the most money for your mobile and don’t mind payment by cheque or direct bank transfer choose Sell Old Phone.

I hope that is found useful by people as a primer on how to get paid for selling mobile phones online and the various payment options there are available to you. Of course, for the really kind hearted among us. You can even donate some or all of the money for your mobile to charity. Some mobile phone recyclers have this option when checking out. Stick around or subscribe for updates to see a list coming soon of the UK’s top mobile phone recyclers and how each one pays out.

Sell and recycle your old mobile phone with SellOldMobile

SellOldPhone pay most for mobilesSell Old Phone & Sell Old Mobile are run and operated by the same group of people. Greener Tomorrow Ltd. We have reviewed both of these mobile phone recyclers sites before. They are both pretty much the same SellOldMobile are actually a sister site of SellOldPhone. So are the prices they offer for mobile phones exactly the same? Where do they differ in terms of service?

Let’s compare a bunch of mobile phone prices on both sites.

Nokia e65Nokia e65
SellOldPhone: Working £38.25 / Broken £13.00
SellOldMobile: Working £38.05 / Broken £13.00

Nokia N95Nokia N95
SellOldPhone: Working £91.50 / Broken £25.00
SellOldMobile: Working £91.02 / Broken £23.00

Apple iPhone 16gbApple iPhone 16gb
SellOldPhone: Working £110.05 / Broken £20.00
SellOldMobile: Working £110.05 / Broken £20.00

While most Apple phone prices are the same with both sites. SellOldPhone also have many iPods you can choose from and sell and recycle for cash with them as well. However the prices for most mobile phones are consistently higher for SellOldPhone than their sister site SellOldMobile even for broken mobile phones.

Payment Methods
Both Sell Old Phone & Sell Old Mobile pay by cheque payments. And you can contact them if you would like to be paid by bank instead. You can ring or contact them and give your bank details and they’ll pay you that way instead if you prefer. SellOldMobile have an option for you to donate a part of your money to charity as well. I like to see this option on a recycling site.

Website Effort
I believe Sell Old Phone was running before their sister site SellOldMobile was. Both sites appear to use the same layout and database of mobile phones. Even though prices offered vary. But what I like is the no fuss side to them. Unlike some recyclers who have flashy, browser heavy websites these 2 have been kept simple and easy to use. All the details you need to know our on their sites.

Community Side
SellOldPhone or SellOldMobile both don’t have forums or a blog that they run. But as far as liaisoning with their customers goes they are spot on. I have had 1st hand experience with dealing with them and find them to be very friendly and easy to talk to. They are always willing to sort out any problems that may arise and make sure you are happy with them.

Speed of Service
As both websites are run and maintained by the same people and use the same sorting warehouse the speed of service is the same for both. Both SellOldPhone and SellOldMobile normally send you your payment the day they receive and check your phone. You can send a mobile in to arrive on a Monday and have a cheque sitting in your hand by the following Wednesday.

Most Money Offered
After comparing both sites for different mobile phones. It is clear to see that despite the fact that both sites are run by the same people the SellOldPhone site is the one to use if you want to get the most money for your mobile phone. I have found this when comparing SellOldPhone to other mobile phone recycling sites as well such as Mazuma and Envirofone.

Hats off to Sell Old Phone for this comparison. For paying the most money for mobile phones and for also offering competitive cash prices for iPods as well.

Using that will enable you to compare websites to get the most cash for your mobile. However…. They are not yet in the sites that are compared. But you can still use it and then check on the Earthmobile site how much they are offering you for it manually. Earthmobile are not paying the most for mobile phones at the minute. Sell Old Phone are currently paying the most for mobile phones. However that is not the cash for Blackberry’s.

Own a Blackberry? Earthmobile pay the highest prices on the market!

How to use the Earthmobile site

On going to the Earthmobile site you will see it has an environmental, recycling theme going on. They have all the things you’d expect to see on a mobile phone recycling site such as a How It Works section and Why Recycle etc. They also have other part of the site that explain things in greater detail than I have shared above. You can click around and read some of the things they say about themselves and mobile phone recycling and you are welcomed to do so before you decide to sell your mobile to them.

Earthmobile have their own mobile phone finder so you can simply search for your make and model right from the homepage by either choosing a manufacturer from a drop down list or clicking on an image logo for your make of mobile. Once you’ve found your phone you can select it in the list and it will display how much they are willing to pay you for it. It goes on to display what counts for a working and what counts for an un-working phone. You can click to add it to the basket or click to add multiple phones to the basket. Once you have done so it will go in your basket on the site and you can review the sale. If you are happy with the price, you will need to enter your phones IMEI number (*#06#) and then click next step. You will simply need to register now and provide your name and address details and agree to the terms & conditions.

Simply enter the details you need to enter and click to complete the sale. You should then receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to send the phone into Earthmobile. You are advised to send it in within 14 days else it may loose the value you were offered.

I haven’t submitted a phone myself but I believe the payment option to be cheque only as their terms state so and say nothing else of any other type of payment being available.

Earth mobile also have a “Remind You” feature where you can set a date for them to remind you for example say when your contract runs out.

Mobile Phone Recyclers We have Reviewed to Sell Your Mobile

There are now more and more mobile phone recycling sites starting that you can send your phone in to be recycled. There are the ones that have been around from the start and are the main ones to use. Such as Mazuma Mobile and Envirofone who have big campaigns. They are the most widely used but there are many other similar mobile phone recycling sites underneath those companies, in terms of statistics.

There are literally millions of mobile phones replaced every year as thousands of mobiles are purchased every hour in the UK alone. Rendering old mobile phones obsolete and unused to the owner of a newer more advanced model. But with this brings great opportunity as old mobile phones hold value in them still.

Couple this with that more people are recycling mobile phones now almost so much that if old mobile were considered animals they would almost definitely go on the endangered species list. Especially because of the monetary opportunities behind recycling mobile phones and other electrical types of gadgets.

As an end user who just wants to sell your old mobile phone online easily to one of the mobile phone recycling sites you can use to do so with. You don’t need to think about these things so much. All you want to know is if you send your mobile phone in will you get your money for it. Right?

The good thing about it is that these sites are normally backed with some kind of governmental type of authority in the environmental industry. They are genuine real registered companies set up to actually recycle mobile phones. (And other gadgets). Companies with physical trading addresses that many people have sold their mobile phones successfully to as it’s a big industry.

I have been interested in environmental issues around electrical items for a while. I already knew about the massive effect discarded batteries alone are having on our environment. But some of the statistics for mobile phones wasted in landfill sites every year is shocking.

That is why there is big demand to recycle mobile phones now. I have wrote articles and other posts on why you should recycle mobile phones. And how to recycle mobile phones for cash. Get involved selling mobile phones online.

So unlike most people I’ve been there from the start more or less when it comes to seeing mobile phone recycling sites start. I remember when the TV adverts first started coming out. Now it’s just booming still. People wanting to sell their mobile phone or old mobile phone online for cash.

I know which sites are the most popular and widely used. I know which ones get the most visits and receive the most handsets on a daily basis. The ones near the bottom get about 500+ handsets sent in a day alone!

So it’s good that their are sites like this where you can find reviews for mobile phone recycling sites. Where you can see what benefits and features each site has in once place so you can make an informed decision on which one is best for you. Which one will give you the most money for your mobile phone and choose a way you want to be paid.

Mainly, all the mobile phone recycling sites sites we’ve reviewed are for UK based residents only. I know that most of this sites visitors are UK visitors but still occasional US visits and we will be featuring US based mobile phone recycling sites still in the near future also as well, a list and even small review of the other not so well known UK sites. We just want to keep tabs on these companies so people know before things start going wrong. So you can get the most money!
