Envirofone Mobile Phone Recycling Review

I’ve wanted to do a review for www.Envirofone.com for a little while now and am quite excited to do so as well. You may have seen the Envirofone TV advert recently? Well the Envirofone mobile phone recycling website is a leader in its class.

What they say “Envirofone is free and simple to use. Users find their old mobile phone via simple search or browsing, see how much it is worth and then trade it in. Once they have done the trade envirofone sends them a trade pack that includes a freepost envelope. Once the phone is received it is tested and providing it meets the terms and conditions users are paid by cheque, Paypal or Argos vouchers. They can also choose to donate part of the phone’s value to charity.”

“We’re the UK’s number one online mobile phone recycling website. It’s free to use envirofone and most importantly we’ll pay you in cash — all whilst helping the environment.”

  • Since March 2006 envirofone has paid out over £20 million in cash to sellers
  • Envirofone lists over 1000 makes and models that have a value – from 50 pence to over £100
  • You can turn your old mobiles into cash in under two minutes – no bidding, no auctions, no hassle
  • With envirofone what you see is what you get as it’s totally free to use

Envirofone are a mobile phone recycling business that work with charities and other environmental organisations to recycle or re-use mobile phones. They say they have a dedicated Environment Project Manager to help them manage the environmental impacts responsibly and are continually improving their efforts. I believe there mother site is http://www.envirocharities.com/ and they have a partnership with http://www.fones4schools.co.uk/ and http://www.rainforestconcern.org/ as credentials. How to sell your mobile phone with Envirofone

On going to the Envirofone site for the first time you’ll instantly know how to use the site. There is a panel on the left hand side for you to choose the Make and Model of your mobile phone. Use the drop down box to select the Make. You can manually type in the Model as well but if you don’t know it just hit ‘Find now’ and it will provide a long list of phones for you to select one. From there you will also see the value of each phone’s worth that they’ll pay you.

Some phones have a small recycle icon next to them instead of a value. This is because Envirofone can’t re-sell it but will still recycle the phone for you instead. You can send it into them by freepost.

Of course some phones do have value to them up to £180 or more with Envirofone. If you’re happy with the price click on ‘Sell now’ which will add it to the cart. You will be in the cart now and you will have a few more options such as Payment options. Envirofone will pay you in 3 ways of choice for your phone. They’ll either send you a cheque. Pay you by Paypal. Or pay you in Argos credit with an Argos eCard that gives you an additional 10% of the value of your mobile phone on top of the cash value. The other option is you can donate any percentage of the money to charity. From either 5% to 100% of it. I like that feature myself.

Once your ready click to Continue and you’ll need to fill in your details and create your Account access details. Create your account with the site as you may want to use it again. Check your details, Payment Choices and Items and click to Finish Trade. From Your Account, if you click on View Trades you’ll be able to see the phone or phones you submitted. The phones will be marked as Awaiting Receipt until you send them into them. Envirofone will send you out an envelope for how ever many fones you are sending in but you can order a free freepost trade pack if you require more. However if you are sending in 4 or more mobile phones they also have a Courier Collection service. They will come and collect the phones from you and pay you there and then for them at your door.

Sell your mobile phone in 3 easy steps with Envirofone

  1. Find your phone on their site.
Search for and identify your mobile phone on their site and to see how much it’s worth.
  2. Send your phone into Envirofone.
Envirofone will send you a padded envelope to send it into their freepost service but they recommend sending it via special delivery which is good advice.
  3. Get paid!
Once Envirofone get your phone they will test and grade it and send you payment for the phone in whatever way you requested. Cheque, Paypal or Argos credit.

The Envirofone is quite easy to use and laid out with all the features you’d expect from a top of its class mobile phone recycling website/service. The ‘My Account’ page is self intuitive enough and they have a ‘How it Works’ page, but there is another side to Envirofone. A community side. Once you have completed your order, click the ‘Green Room’ or the ‘Community’ link on the homepage.

As you can see Envirofone like to explain things in details and they lean on the recycling theme quite a bit but they also have the Community based part of the site. They say it’s a “place to hang out and read up on some interesting facts as well as the odd bargain. We’ve got really cool envirofacts, blogs, reviews, green special offers and advice.” To be perfectly honest with you no other mobile phone recycling website has anything quite like this. They go on to explain the Green Issues to recycling mobile phones. Have recent News Articles to watch and read which are based on related issues. Have Phone Offers to save money. Money Saving tips & Green Offers.

They are all offers you might not need but some are very tangible and using them could probably save you money. You will see a Household CO2 Calculator to calculate your Carbon Footprint. And Competitions to enter to win great free prizes every month just for being a member of the site. But you should check out the Media Centre and play the Battle Phones flash game. You can battle another mobile phone in a boxing ring style game. I have added it below for you to play!!!

All these things give a more community people based feel to the site. Envirofone have branded a household name for themselves with the service they provide. The proof is in the pudding and that’s where they deliver. I have had 2nd hand experience with Envirofone myself and spoke to others who’ve sold them. I’ve searched for Envirofone reviews online and checked for bad points and can’t find any either! Only people saying the same as is said about most sites. That they are told the phone is not worth as much as is told online. But that only happens sometimes because people can’t admit their phone is just not in that good a condition.

If you’ve registered with Envirofone to sell your mobile phone with them you should rest assured you are dealing with a genuine organisation and you like many others will receive payment for your mobile phone sent into them. You can safely send it in via the freepost method although using special delivery is recommended. Especially for more valuable phones guys.

So what happens now?

You’ve got your payment and Envirofone have your old mobile phone. Envirofone will recycle your phone. They will check what kind of condition it’s in and decide whether to refurbish and resale the phone on. Or they will dismantle it and reuse parts or smelt the precious metals down inside the phone which are reused in new mobile phones. This helps the environment as mining for these metals can have an effect on some ecological systems in the world.

If you have any questions about the site check their FAQ page or send them feedback. I believe they have very good customer service and are always willing to help. Remember, if you have an account with them you can easily sell mobile phones to them without having to re-register.

  1. Envirofone has a team of people who write false reviews on itself when business is slow. I would advise everyone to ignore reviews unless theyre on independant blogs (I know, i work there and i was told to write positive reviews).
